Hamilton Park Racecourse all set for charitable Saints and Sinners event

Hamilton Park Racecourse will open its gates for its annual charitable Saints and Sinners race night next Thursday, June 23.

Racegoers in their thousands will descend upon the Lanarkshire venue in a colour palette of red and white for one of the highlight fixtures of the season, sponsored by Indigo Unified Communications, with funds being raised on the night for the Saints & Sinners Club of Scotland.

Each year, the club raises money and donates regular grants to small Scottish charities, with the race meeting one of their main fundraising events each year.

Simply by attending, racegoers help to support the worthwhile causes as a portion of the ticket sales is donated to the charity.

After an evening of quality horse racing, there will be live music from Sir Elton John tribute act – Elite Elton – The Elton John Experience, treating racegoers to a night packed full of the Rocket Man’s classics.

Ashley Moon, racecourse managing director, told Lanarkshire Live: "We’re gearing up for one of the highlights of our racing season and we expect to see lots of racegoers getting into the spirit of the occasion, with saints dressing in white and sinners in red.

“It’s always a fantastic night with top action on and off the course, and helps support some wonderful causes. A portion of the ticket sales each year is donated to the charity, so by simply attending, you’re showing your support.

"And you can purchase a red or white carnation on the night to make an extra special contribution – with proceeds also going to the charity”

On the course, look out for The Captain JC Stewart Fillies’ Handicap Stakes, which will attract some great Class 4 contenders.

It was an impressive win from Celtic Empress last year, as she came from last to first in the hands of Daniel Tudhope for David O’Meara Racing.

Gates open at 3.30pm on the day, with the racing action getting underway at 6pm.
