Hamilton boss Stuart Taylor says his side should have been home and dry by half-time, and was disappointed to draw 1-1 with Ayr United in their Championship clash at New Douglas Park.
Kai Kennedy's seventh-minute opener was cancelled out 12 minutes into the second half by Sam Ashford's strike.
The United sub could have won the game in the end, but Taylor was left disappointed after his side missed a raft of chances in the first half when they were on top. including Ronan Hughes, who crashed a penalty off the bar.
Taylor reckons Ayr scored with their only real chance, and is disappointed not to have taken two more points.
He said: "I think we should have had the game won by half-time. I think it was definitely a situation where we had opportunities to put it to bed.
"We had good opportunities that we could have got on the end of it, put it in the back of the net or finished it off - certainly the penalty situation as well, which is something we need to try and improve on.
"There were a lot of aspects in the first half that were really good, and then in the second half as well the wind played a little bit of a factor, with balls coming into the box and stuff like that, and I think we handled that well.
"But really disappointing to not come away with the three points, especially with the opportunities that we had, and we weren't ruthless enough.
"I think Ayr's goal was really their only shot, and I'm disappointed that they scored from it, but it's certainly something we need to work on."
Taylor refused to criticise Hughes for his penalty miss, which came at a point in the game when a second goal might have secured the win, and said the midfielder has had issues.
He said: "Ronan's in good form. If you look just before the Dunfermline game, just before he took Covid, he had scored, earned two penalties, had four assists, and I had a good chat with him about a month ago about him being more influential in the game.
"We spoke about different positions that he could get into, certain things he needs to go and do in the game, and he did it.
"Confidence-wise, it maybe affected him, missing the penalty, but he's in good form coming up to the game and during the game. He was confident enough and brave enough to go and take it, so on that side of things it was good.
"He takes them in training and puts them away every single time, so it's something we'll improve on and we'll move on."
