Students at a German school have been evacuated after reports that two young people entered a classroom brandishing a gun, local police said.
The name of the school in the northern city of Hamburg has not ben named by authorities. It is reported to be located in the quiet and affluent Blankenese district of the city.
Police in Hamburg said they were continuing to search the school and there were no reports of injuries so far, in an update on Wednesday afternoon.
German newspaper Bild reported that two young men had barricaded themselves into a classroom, with one of them threatening they would use a gun. A female teacher was reportedly threatened.
It is unclear if the two young people were students at the school.
Children and teachers were earlier asked to lock themselves in their classrooms, the TV channel ARD said.
The DPA news agency later reported that the two had left the room and fled, but their whereabouts is unknown.
Students were escorted from the school grounds by police and transported via bus to an army barracks in Hamburg to be picked up by their parents. School psychologists would be on site for students, Hamburg police said.
Police have also received calls from surrounding schools that concerned parents want to pick up their children early. Police said there is no information about further danger to the area.
Photos from the scene show armed police with masks on entering the school. Road closures are in place.
Hamburg was recently the scene of an hostage standoff at the airport that had forced authorities to close the busy hub for hours.
