Hamas has expressed its support for the recent United Nations Security Council resolution that calls for a permanent cessation of hostilities in Gaza. Following the vote, Hamas released a statement indicating its willingness to engage in indirect negotiations with mediators to implement the measures outlined in the resolution.
The approved measures include the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip, prisoner exchange, reconstruction efforts, the return of displaced individuals to their homes, opposition to any demographic changes or reduction in the Gaza Strip's area, and the provision of necessary aid to the people in the region.
The Security Council resolution, which was proposed by the United States, received overwhelming support with 14 votes in favor and none against. Despite the resolution's approval, detailed negotiations to execute its provisions have not yet resulted in a consensus between Israel and Hamas.
