Hamas has announced the names of three female Israeli hostages who are set to be released on Sunday. The hostages include Romi Gonen (24), Doron Steinbrecher (31), and dual UK-Israeli citizen Emily Damari (28).
Romi Gonen was abducted from the Nova music festival on October 7, 2023, at the age of 23. Reports indicate that she was shot in the hand during the attack, and her injuries may have worsened while in captivity. Her family has confirmed that she is on the list of hostages to be released.
Doron Steinbrecher, a 30-year-old veterinary nurse, was kidnapped from her apartment in kibbutz Kfar Aza near the Gaza border. Concerns have been raised about her health, as she requires daily medication that she may not have been receiving while in captivity.
Emily Damari was taken from her home in Kfar Aza at the age of 27. Her mother described a harrowing ordeal where Damari was shot, injured by shrapnel, blindfolded, and driven to Gaza. She is the only remaining British citizen held in Gaza.
The hostages were among 251 people abducted by Hamas-led militants on October 7, 2023. Currently, 94 hostages are still being held, with 34 believed to be deceased. Of the remaining hostages, 81 are male and 13 are female, with two being children aged five or under.
