Hamas has recently handed over three hostages to the Red Cross in Gaza City, marking a significant development following the implementation of a 42-day ceasefire that commenced on Sunday morning.
The hostages, Romi Gonen, Doron Steinbrecher, and Emily Damari, had been held captive in Gaza since their abduction from Israel on October 7, 2023.
The handover took place amidst a large gathering at Gaza City's Al-Saraya Junction, where numerous masked militants from Hamas' Al Qassam Brigades and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad's Al-Quds Brigades were in attendance.
This event signifies the first instance of hostage releases since the ceasefire came into effect, offering a glimmer of hope for improved relations and potential progress towards peace in the region.
