‘Halo’ Fans Might Seriously Need This Ultra-Limited Custom Xbox Controller

Super limited stuff and the video game industry sort of go hand in hand, almost like a controller goes in a...hand? I’ll work on it.

Earlier today, I was flipping through Twitter, as you do, and I somehow came across a Missouri-located gaming peripheral company called TREZN. Looking at their website, it seems they sell a lot of automotive-grade customized video game controllers and skins, many of which are based on popular franchises and produced via collaboration with England-based artist POPeART. You can also build your own gear, if that’s more your speed.

Browsing around, the wild ‘Shrimp’ controller looks almost good enough to eat, while the ‘Crayon’ gamepad is almost too charming to bear. But it was the recently listed Halo-themed ‘Pins and Needles’ variant that stopped me in my tracks.

Heavily inspired by the Covenant’s infamous Needler gun, the expensive peripheral is a beautiful mix of purples and grays, topped off by three possibly raised crystalline shards on the left handle, a striking homage to the alien Needler itself. It’s difficult to see if the lavender dashes are, indeed, raised up to provide a unique texture. I sincerely hope they are. TREZN, please tell me they are. They need to be. And they need to glow.

Late August’s Drop 1, as the company is calling it, has already sold out. But Drop 2, which is set to ship in mid-September, is still available to pre-order. The price on the ‘Pins and Needles’ controller is a rather steep $149.99, but if you’re a Halo mega-fan and you want to dominate Slayer on a literal gamified Needler, you might want to jump on this fast.

Looking at TREZN’s website copy, it appears that once they sell out of something, it may never come back in stock. I guess we should take that sort of vague scarcity marketing with a grain of salt, because what is even limited these days. But still, act quickly if the Covenant is stirring within you. I know I’m seriously considering it.
