Halloween 2022 Ireland: Bram Stoker festival to bring free Borealis light spectacular to Dublin Castle

Dubliners will be able to see the Northern Lights over the capital this Halloween as part of the Bram Stoker festival.

Dublin Castle is set to be taken over by the BOREALIS by Swiss artist Dan Acher over the October Bank Holiday weekend from Friday 28 October to Monday 31 October. This event will be free to attend and will run each night of the festival from 6.30pm until 10.30pm.

Bram Stoker Festival returns to Dublin city this year for four days and nights of deadly adventures between Friday 28 October and Monday 31 October. BOREALIS is an immersive light and sound experience, with a custom soundtrack by Guillaume Desbois - its lush visuals and harmonious soundscape utterly transform the sky over spectators’ heads, and time seems to slow down as eyes look up at the mesmerising lights in a breath-taking experience of true awe and wonder.

Lord Mayor of Dublin, Caroline Conroy said: “The ‘Borealis’ spectacular will bring the magic of the Northern Lights to our city and Dubliners will be able to experience this in the atmospheric setting of the Dublin Castle. I have no doubt the Bram Stoker Festival 2022 will again prove to be a brilliant festival for everyone.”

Bram Stoker Festival Co-Directors Maria Schweppe and Tom Lawlor said: “It is a perfect fit for Bram Stoker Festival, taking place in Dublin Castle where Stoker himself once worked. We can’t wait to welcome Dubliners of all ages to this free spectacle in the city centre, every night of the festival.”

Creator of BOREALIS Dan Acher said: “I am thrilled to present BOREALIS in Dublin with Bram Stoker Festival. The artwork is about inspiring shared emotions in the centre of a city by creating something magical – something that shouldn’t naturally be there - to create a moment of togetherness, belonging and community for all who see it.”
