Halifax Town boss makes Notts County admission that fans will agree with

Halifax Town boss Pete Wild says Notts County are one of the best footballing teams in the National League and warned they can dish out a "good hiding" ahead of their showdown on Tuesday night.

The rivals go head to head at Meadow Lane where the Magpies will look to secure a fourth successive victory as their promotion charge begins to build up a head of steam.

The National League clash will be the third meeting between the side with Notts having recently beaten the Shaymen 2-1 in the FA Trophy.

Halifax won the league fixture back at the Shay 3-2 when Notts surrendered a 2-0 lead against 10 men.

The Shaymen's preparations have been far from ideal following a stack of postponed games with their trip to Notts set to be only their second game in 24 days.

Their game against Dover was called off at the weekend due to a waterlogged pitch, but Wild says his players are ready and raring to go.

Asked if the postponement had been a good thing for his squad, Wild told the Halifax Courier: "No, because I don't like us not playing because it takes us some time to get back up to speed again.

"But we came in yesterday and done some tactical work, ready for Notts County, a two-day lead-in, so every cloud and all that.

"So we're ready to go.

"It'll be a great game, proper ground, two really good footballing teams.

"It's one apiece now so let's see who comes up with the victory over the three games.

"We're excited to go and give our best performance at one of the big clubs."

Halifax beat Notts 2-1 at Meadow Lane last season in what was one of their best performances under Wild who is hoping for a repeat performance.

But the Shaymen boss is well aware of the threat that Ian Burchnall's side pose.

"I think if you let them play they're one of the best footballing sides in the league," he said.

"We've got to stop them, they've got threats and quality players all over the pitch, they've got threats all over the pitch and we really need to make sure we're at it, because if we're not then they have the players and the capability to give you a good hiding."
