Half of Brits want the iconic store Woolworths to make a come-back to the high street, according to a study.
For decades, it was the prime shopping experience for adults and kids with products from homeware, clothing, books, music and toys. And of course before a trip to the cinema, you would have to stop at the iconic British store for their famous Pic N Mix.
But despite it being a high street icon from 1909, it fell victim to the financial crash in 2008. Between 2008 and 2009, shops were closed in phases until it finally went into administration.

According to a survey by YouGov, 49 per cent of people have said they would like to see Woolies return when asked which defunct retailer they would like to see in the high street again, as per Wales Online.
But despite it being over 10 years since the last Woolworth's shop closed, the survey suggests a range of generations still have fond memories of the store. Those aged 50-64 were the most likely to want to see it back, at 60 per cent while a third of 18-24 year olds – who will have been between four and 10 years old when the chain closed in 2009 – also agreed.

Meanwhile, only 13 per cent wanted to see the return of Debenhams, which closed its shops last year and 10 per cent was keen for BHS, which shut in 2016, to make a come-back.
The British branch of Woolworths was founded back in 1909 by Frank Winfield Woolworth in Liverpool. It survived through both World Wars until splitting from the owners in the 1980s. After the shops had shut by 2009, Shop Direct Group (now known as The Very Group) purchased the Woolworths trademark and internet address but this only ran until 2015.
YouGov polled 1,717 adults in the UK. The research was carried out on August 8 and 9.
