Hakim Ziyech reveals what he thought after stunning Chelsea goal amid transfer admission

Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech has admitted that he thought he hit his stunning strike against Tottenham ‘too hard’.

The Moroccan netted a brilliant goal minutes after the break by curling home a wicked effort into the top corner of Hugo Lloris ’ net. Thiago Silva then added a second for the Blues shortly after as Thomas Tuchel’ s men sealed a third win against their London rivals in January alone.

Ziyech continues to have an impact for Chelsea, with his goal the second in as many games following his strike against Brighton & Hove Albion at the AMEX Stadium - the first time he has managed that feat since arriving from Ajax in a big-money deal.

However, he was not all too convinced that his effort against Spurs was going to find the back of the net having felt like he had let fly with too much power.

Asked by Sky Sports for his verdict on the strike, he said: “How good it was? Yeah I think it was a ten out of ten I think.

“No I was following the ball but I thought maybe I hit it a little bit hard but in the end I saw it go in.”

Ziyech’s celebrations against Spurs were certainly contrasting to the emotions he displayed against the Seagulls.

The Moroccan barely celebrated his strike at the AMEX, with some perceiving that as a message that he may be eyeing a transfer away from Chelsea but has explained that his celebrations were dictated by the Blues’ current situation in matches.

He continued: “I think it is two different situations. The game against Brighton I think until we get the 1-0 we didn’t play well so there was a little bit of frustration.

“But today [against Tottenham] from the beginning, I think we played well and we had them where we wanted. Sometimes they had some counter-attacks but wasn’t really dangerous at all.

“I think we played a good game with a lot of chances, a lot of football, and that’s why it was a different situation like I said.”
