Hairy Bikers' Si King gives encouraging update on Dave Myers' cancer battle on This Morning

Si King offered an encouraging update on Hairy Bikers partner in crime Dave Meyers' cancer battle, during an appearance on This Morning, saying he is 'getting stronger every day.'

It was back in May that much loved chef and former Strictly contestant Dave broke the news of his cancer, while he and Si were recording a podcast together. Making the tough admission, Dave said: "I maybe a baldy biker for a while… it's simply something I have to live with.

"Anyway Kingy, I've got to come clean now, I haven't been too well recently and basically, I've got to have some chemo, you know all this anyway, so this year is going to be a bit quiet for me, I'm not going to be filming, some of the festivals I'm not going to be able to go to, some may be okay but this year's a bit of a write off for us."

At the time, Dave asked fans to respect his and his family's privacy and let him "just get on with it," and, as he predicted, he has been largely absent from the spotlight since revealing his cancer diagnosis. This Morning is a show that Dave and Si have appeared on countless times together, but, on Thursday, Si flew solo as he returned to the ITV studio.

And it didn't take hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield long to ask for news on Dave. As he prepared to start a cooking demo, Si gave an honest, but positive update, telling the presenters: "He's doing OK. All the numbers are going in the right direction. He's still in the trenches of his chemo, but he just gets stronger every day, which is a great sign. Hopefully he'll be back."

Sending a message to Dave, Phillip said: "Lots of love mate," as Holly added: "Yes, lots of love. Missed you today."

Dave gave his own update during an interview on Radio Cumbria earlier this week, saying: "I’m doing alright, I wouldn’t say I was the best I’ve ever been, I’ve had quite a lot of chemotherapy but it’s working,” he shared. “The numbers are going in the right direction, my hair is growing back, my beard is coming back.”
