Hairstylist reveals annoying customer habits she hates - including coffee complaint

Most of us have a love-hate relationship with going to the hairdresser. Some people love going to get their locks snipped and all that it involves – getting your hair washed, chatting with the hairstylist or just relaxing with a magazine.

Others don't feel super confident about making small-talk or getting their hair washed by a stranger.

But it turns out customers aren't the only people with strong feelings about the whole situation. A hairstylist has revealed the things customers do that annoy her the most.

Emily Rose is a hairstylist who posts to TikTok under the username @emilyyyroses to her 40.9k followers. She recently uploaded a video where she shared three of her biggest customer "icks", and it's amassed 337k views to date.

Sharing "icks", or intense turn-offs that can be legitimate or obscure, has become a trend on TikTok, with many workers jumping on the bandwagon to share things customers do that annoy them.

For Emily, the number one "ick" is when a customer comes in with "super dirty hair". She explained: "We don't want to touch your dirty hair, but it's also not good for your colour. Your colour is not going to take as well with dirty hair."

She continued: "Number two, when we sit you down at the shampoo bowls and then you lean back and look right into our eyes.

"Don't do that. That's awkward for everybody, just close your eyes."

Emily's third annoyance is when you "show up late with a coffee in your hand and you don't have one for us". She added: "We love coffee too and we need the caffeine to do your hair."

Lastly, she explained that it's annoying when "you're in your chair and then we turn the chair and your head looks back at the mirror".

The hairstylist added: "Please, please, don't do that, that's the reason we're turning your chair."

Many social media users were confused by the hairstylist's annoyances, especially the demand to bring coffee to the appointment.

One person said: "We're paying more than enough for a service without the expectation of bringing a coffee for a hairdresser."

Another said: "Why would I waste money on a coffee that you potentially wouldn't like, or could be allergic. If I'm late I'll tip you more."

Others were confused about the expectation to come in with clean hair. One person said: "Don't [you] wash the hair????"

Another said: "What? I'm not washing my hair before coming in."

However, others completely agreed with Emily, with one person saying: "Wow you are gorgeous!! I agree with all of these."

Another said: "These should be common sense."
