Hairdresser raves over £1.50 hygiene product that tames frizz and flyaways in seconds

If you deal with frizzy hair or flyaways, then you'll know just how annoying it can be to try and get your locks to lay flat, especially if it's humid outside.

But one hairdresser has claimed there's an easy hair hack that can flatten your frizz in seconds, and you only need one product that many of us already own but always forget to use for its intended purpose - dental floss.

The hair expert, named Matt, demonstrated that all you need to do is take a long piece of floss from the box and run it over the top of your head, down each side of your parting, and your frizz will be tamed in no time.

In a video posted to his @mattloveshair account on TikTok, the man described it as his "favourite hair hack of the year", as he showed the trick in action on his own hair.

And commenters on the video were blown away by how easy the hack was to use, with many saying they couldn't wait to try it out for themselves.

One person said: "Trying this NOW."

While another added: "Definitely trying this tomorrow morning."

And a third wrote: "So smart, I can't wait to try this!"

Someone else even let people know the science behind the trick, as they explained: "Dental floss is covered in wax ... the wax lays down the flyaways, you are welcome."

Dental floss can be found in most supermarkets and pharmacies, as well as usually available to buy at the dentist. Boots sell their floss for £1.50, and you'll be able to use the product several times for your money.

And better still, you'll be able to tell your dentist with confidence that you are flossing - even if it's not the way you should be.

Meanwhile, another hairdresser recently claimed we've all been using shampoo wrong - and shouldn't be coating all of our hair with the soapy substance.

The hair expert, named Taylor, said the best way to clean your hair is to actually focus all of your shampoo on your roots, as she claimed you should be cleaning your scalp rather than your hair.

Taylor insisted that if you only put shampoo on your roots, you'll be able to focus the cleaning power of the product to a specific area, and then as you rinse it out, it will trickle down the length of your hair to clean the ends.

She said: "I know we call it shampooing our hair, but really your focus should be on shampooing your scalp. Clean scalp means healthy hair."
