A hairdresser has taken the internet by storm by pointing out that most people are actually washing their hair completely wrong.
The revelation was shared via a video on social media platform TikTok, where she claimed shampoo shouldn't be put on every inch of your locks. Taylor said the best way to clean your hair is by cleaning your scalp, focusing on shampooing your roots.
She insisted by following her method, people would be able to focus the product on one specific area. The residue shampoo would then clean the ends your hair when it was rinsed out, the Mirror reports.

In the clip, which was posted on her @madeandtaylored account, she said: "I always get roasted when I do a 'How To Wash Your Hair Properly' video, but I don't care because there are always people who don't know how to properly wash their hair, and this is going to save your life times a million."
The hairdresser said washing your hair in scorching water should be avoided at all costs at it will dry out your locks and added the ideal water temperature should lukewarm to warm.
She added: "Before the shampoo even touches your hair, you want to make sure that your hair is completely drenched. Shampoo is water-soluble, which means it needs water to activate the suds, so make sure you're splitting your hair apart when you're in the shower so that water gets all the way into your scalp."
Taylor, who is from the US, continued: "You're just going to focus on the root area of your hair and not worry about shampooing your ends, because when you rinse the shampoo out, it's going to run down your hair and onto your ends and clean them that way.
"I'm going to repeat the process until I get full-blown suds. [For me] third time's the charm. I know we call it shampooing our hair, but really your focus should be on shampooing your scalp. Clean scalp means healthy hair."
Taylor uses conditioner on the middle and ends of her hair after rinsing it out, before using the excess product on her hands to apply it to her root area.
After leaving the conditioner to sit for "a couple of minutes", she finishes the process by rinsing it out and said by then "You'll have the cleanest hair in all the land!"
Social media users said they weren't aware of Taylor's hair washing method before the video and many praised the hairdresser for her tips.
One person said: "Turns out I didn't know how to wash my hair."
While another wrote: "After 37 years I finally know how to properly wash my hair. Thanks to you!"
