Hairdresser begs clients to stop wearing certain outfit to salon as it makes 'job harder'

The majority of us wouldn't give a second thought to what we wear to a hairdressing appointment, and will just chuck on something comfy enough to sit about in for a couple of hours.

It turns out your hairdresser may well be silently cursing you if you rock up wearing one particular clothing item, however, so you might want to think more carefully before you head out of the door.

Professional stylist Brittany has opened up about some of her biggest pet peeves as a hairdresser, one of which involves a piece of clothing many of us would think perfectly smart and suitable for an appointment.

Taking to TikTok, with a video that's clocked up 60.3K views and counting, Brittany revealed: "When you come to your appointment wearing a turtleneck. Please don't wear a turtleneck."

Brittany, who goes by the username @by.brittany, continued: "It's probably gonna get colour on it, and then it's gonna be my fault, even though you shouldn't have worn a turtleneck to your appointment."

Other "icks" included turning up late to an appointment with a coffee in hand, without bringing one for your hardworking hairdresser, and using too much purple shampoo while expecting the stylist to make their hair "blonder".

Brittany also hates it when clients badmouth other hairdressers, sighing: "When someone complains about their old hairstylist and kind of wants you to complain about them as well. Don't do that. Ick."

A number of hairdressers in the comment section could relate all too well to Brittany's list of salon gripes, with one fed-up individual thanking her for "spreading the good word".

A second person wrote: "This is good stuff. I would agree with you on all! White turtle necks all day for me with dark colour!"

A third commented: "And don’t wear a bulky hoodie or favorite light-colored [sic] shirt. Because you never know."

A fourth added: "Or hoodies when they don't have a t-shirt on underneath. The amount of times that happens is super annoying."
