Hailey Bieber has revealed the details of her recent scary ordeal, on March 10 she suddenly suffered a mini-stroke which left her unable to speak and with a drooping face on one side. The model, 25, describes in a 12-minute video, how she was sitting at breakfast with her husband having, "a normal day" when "all of a sudden I felt this really weird sensation which travelled down my arm to my fingertips."
Justin asked if she was OK and she says: "When I went to respond, I couldn't speak, I couldn't get any of the words out." She continues: "Immediately, I thought I was having a full-blown stroke."
Medics told Hailey she had had a TIA (transient ischemic attack), otherwise known as a mini-stroke. The definition Hailey shares says: "A TIA is a temporary blockage of blood flow to the brain, which usually foreshadows a stroke." Hailey says luckily for her: "It subsided fairly fast, the facial drooping lasted about 30 seconds."

Hailey told viewers on YouTube that the doctors explained there could be three reasons for her suffering the TIA or mini-stroke event. She says: "One was that I had just recently started birth control pills, which I should have never been on because I am somebody who suffers from migraines anyway, and I just did not talk to my doctors about this."
The model continues with a warning for others: "So ladies, if you suffer from bad migraines and you plan on being on birth control pills, make sure you tell your doctor because having a stroke is a potential side effect from birth control pills." The other two reasons she cited were a recent long-haul flight, and she'd also recently had Covid.
The NHS website states : "The risk of having an ischaemic stroke is increased by using the combined contraceptive pill. Medical professionals generally advise women who experience migraine with aura not to use the combined contraceptive pill.
"Women who have migraine without aura can usually take the combined contraceptive pill safely, unless they have other stroke risk factors such as high blood pressure or a family history of cardiovascular disease. If you take the combined contraceptive pill and experience aura symptoms, talk to a GP about alternative forms of contraception."
Hailey also revealed that doctors did a bubble-echo test on her heart and discovered that she had a hole in her heart, which she's had unknowingly since birth. She has now undergone a procedure to have it closed up and assured viewers that she was on the mend whilst encouraging anyone watching to talk to their doctor if they're concerned about anything similar to her experience themselves.
