Time-sensitive letter.
Great work. Keep upping the game.
I want to know: There is so much hype on electoral bonds and Hindenburg report. I want to know why no one is talking about, following up and its consequences. I understand the rest of the media, I want to know why Newslaundry isn’t following. It’s huge, now it’s nowhere.
I have a request. Your ex-colleague Meghnad is trying in the Delhi elections as an MLA. Can you interview him as “know your neta” and get his opinion or problems in the constituency which he consolidated?
Ujjwal
Hi guys,
Please keep up your good work. Manisha, please be regular on Newsance. Following your coverage on Delhi election and as you guys are taking interviews of all those useless and galibaaz type candidates, for a change please interview Meghnad. He inspires hope in these torrid times. I know he is not going to win but still, it should be documented at least by digital media – that in between these horrible people, someone was trying to inspire confidence in democracy.
Thank you all.

I am a subscriber since 2021 and usually do not consume any news or longform articles from NL. Exception: Hafta and Newsance.
Why do I subscribe then? Abhinandan has said this 10,000 times so he can repeat on my behalf.
Just writing to say thanks for bringing Mr Vivek this week. He gave a nuanced explanation of a nuanced situation. Keep going!
An explainer video program – one episode per week, which does not restrict itself to a topic but just the most complex story of the week. Will be like “cut the clutter” but better. Feasible?

This is regarding you inviting Sanjaya Baru.I did not expect a man who has always sat on the fence and lives in a euphoric world of his own on this show. His explanation of how the power balance has shifted in favor of OBC, Dalits etc shows a deep disconnect with the situation on ground. Just a few reservations here and there, some tokenism in the form of Dalit welfare etc doesn't show a groundbreaking change. Mr Baru should hire a taxi, do a DISCOVERY OF INDIA by taking a tour of villages, towns and see the plights of Dalits. He even sat on the fence when asked if he was proud of the film based on the book. Avoid such slippery EELS!!!

Hi, love your show and the work your organisation does! I was wondering if you could add subtitles whenever a panelist speaks in Hindi/Urdu just so that a non Hindi-Urdu speaking audience is able to follow?

Hi, can you please explain the rationale behind putting in so many resources on the Delhi elections? Specially for non-Delhi subscribers. Regardless of the result, the BJP will be in power either through a puppet CM who one will recognise or through the LG. I would think the resources could have been better utilised in the Fight to Breathe campaign.
Somsubhro
Dear NL team,
Thanks for the explanation to my question last week. Abhinandan addressed me as “Som-sudhro” (I see what you did there). I just wanted to understand how it works at NL, and we (my partner and I) have contributed to at least 60-70 percent of NL Sena projects. You explained that the amount of content being released for the Delhi elections is a lot. However, if it is being produced by the same staff, then why does the cost increase? Or do you hire freelancers when tasks go beyond personnel capacity (which I find is good, rather than stress permanent staff to do 16 hours a day)?
I will move to a Gamechanger subscription once my current subscription runs out this year. Maybe you should also advertise to the soft NLers (Disruptor) to go hardcore (Gamechanger)?

The politics around not releasing Diljit Dosanjh’s movie Punjab 95 is somewhat curious. I mean – there is the AAP government at the state level and BJP at centre, if anything this movie exposes the mishandling and extrajudicial killings during the Congress era. From human rights violations to the extrajudicial killings and the appointment of controversial erstwhile DGP of Punjab could provide enough political ammunition for cornering the Indian GOP, that anyway is criticised for mishandling Punjab insurgency in 1980s.
Therefore I do not understand why this movie is being stopped, especially when we have had uncut releases of political garbage movies like X, Y , Z Files over the last four years. What are your thoughts?

Hi team,
So in one of your projects you are coming to Gujarat, I would like to offer help and support I can – I can host your team at my place, provide transport, food. I am a resident of Ahmedabad, I have two rooms in my house where I can accommodate you, and I can drive you around in my car, I am happy to.
And I have a request. When your team is here, do one more story on the displacement of lakhs of people to “develop” Ahmedabad. People are impressed by the infrastructure of the riverfront and roads but what everyone misses is the lakhs of people who got displaced. None of them were given proper homes. Think of it as a very small-scale model of what Dharavi in Mumbai is going through. BJP and Adani have done it to Ahmedabad, now it’s being replicated in Mumbai.

The latest election results in the US (among several others) have reiterated the importance of an informed voting public. It’s unfortunate that so much of the public “gets their news” from social media platforms. What’s even worse is that reputed news outlets peddle drama, entertainment, conflict and biased stories in the name of news coverage. That makes platforms like yours even more critical to the survival of healthy democracies. In that context, I came across a news item on NewsGuard in my local paper The Washington Post. It provides reliability ratings for various news sources and predictably has become a target of right-wing partisans who benefit the most from mis/disinformation campaigns. I’m wondering whether you folks are familiar with NewsGuard and if you’ve considered providing a similar service/offering. Sounds like something that could be up your alley?
Thanks for everything you do and keep it up.

What's up, my Gs and Dawgzzzz!!! Is it Gen Z enough?
I am not a Boomer, I am just an artistic who learnt human interaction through Boomer Books. Gen Z are in their early to mid 20s, my Gs. Did you think a person who grew up reading Camus, Dune, World War History and Manga and comic books etc.with heavy dosage of internet in teenage years would turn out normal?
If I would have written this email in my school days, y’all would have given me the Anglo-Saxon throne.
It’s all fun and games!

I just saw the interview of Atishi and kudos – it’s the perfect interview and a very refreshing change from all mainstream media BS we see on newsance. Also one question, how do you decide what things go behind the paywall and what stays out? I feel we should always have Hafta every single episode for free, not behind a paywall. It would help get subscribers and with your organisation’s vision, you should consider it your social responsibility to keep Hafta open for all citizens. I know this capitalist economy doesn’t allow such decisions easily, but I think the quality of your work is so great that such a move might even make financial sense for you.

Alright peeps, here’s a question – how are these Mahakumbh numbers calculated? For fuck’s sake, I’ve been trying to find the methodology for so long I finally decided to write to you. I’m not so sure about trad-media “reports” claiming 80 crore visitors, my bet is it’s not over 45 crore and even that’s too far-fetched requiring full capacity at all times.
Could you do a piece on this, please?
