As many Dubliners are struggling to keep their driveways free of ice, there's a simple hack involving an easy to get product that could keep your driveway clear.
Met Eireann have issued a Status Orange weather warning for freezing fog from 12pm today until midnight on Tuesday, and icy patches are likely to develop overnight and tomorrow. Most people are wondering how to safely clear their driveway of dangerous black ice, and dish washing soap from Dealz has helped many to keep their driveways clear of ice.
Taking to a local Facebook group, one person said: "We've seen so many people scared about black ice in their driveway so said just put this out there. Get yourselves coarse salt, fine salt is no good for gritting as it will be gone very quick.

"You can use the cheapest possible dishwasher salt...we used dishwasher salt from Dealz during 'Beast from the East' and it worked great. You can get some gravel from Woodies or cat litter and even mix the salt with gravel or cat litter, this will allow you to safely walk on ice until salt will take effect and melt it together.
"Stay safe and warm everyone." The Crystale Dishwash Salt is just €2 from Dealz, which has stores in the Ilac Centre, The Square in Tallaght, Rathfarnham Shopping Centre, Swords, Balbriggan, and more.
Social media users were impressed with the simple hack, commending the original poster for the smart advice which appears to work wonders on icy driveways.
One person commented: "This is a great tip, I've used dishwasher soap in the past for my driveway. Works every time."
A second said: "Thanks so much for this! I'll be sure to use it tonight." A third added: "Cheers for the great tip."
Meanwhile, motorists are also advised to avoid putting boiling hot water on their car windscreens and to instead use a little known 'magic button' that defrosts your windscreen in seconds.
