Women of all sizes - including one that was 32 weeks pregnant - have heaped praise on an affordable dress from H&M for how ‘flattering’ it is on all body shapes. Customers have been going wild for the £20 dress, which is said to be ‘perfect for summer’.
Available in a range of colours and patterns, many fashion lovers have even said they’ve snapped it up in multiple designs.
The dress has received a 4.5 star rating based on over 1,900 reviews, with shoppers claiming it ‘looks more expensive’ than the price tag suggests.
The tie-belt shirt dress has been flying off the racks in a range of designs - with a leopard print version completely selling out - but online, it’s currently in stock in black, khaki, zebra print and a light blue floral.
Available in such a wide range of sizes up to 4XL, it’s been highly recommended by plus-size shoppers and expectant parents, too. One said: “Highly recommended this dress to all curves girls. Good and natural fabric. XXL fitted perfect on my 22 size.”
Another added: “Really comfortable dress. I'm a size 20 and it fits really well. Long length.” With a third shopper chipping in: Absolutely love this dress!! Perfect for plus size ladies. I'm around 5 ft 5 and it's ankle length on me.”
While a mum-to-be wrote: “Really love this dress. I've gone for a medium as I'm 32 weeks pregnant. This fits really nice and I still have room to grow. (Pre pregnancy size 10) The material is very nice. I've washed and dried this and has no issues. 100% recommend Length is long for me but everything always is when you are 5ft 4, still can wear without alterations, but after pregnancy I will look to get it taken up.”
Described as a ‘calf-length dress’, it has a v-neck cut and short sleeves, with a tie belt at the waist, and a flared skirt. What’s more is that it has concealed elastication at the back, making it stretchy and ‘comfortable’ to wear.
Other women also loved the ‘very flattering style’, and shared their top styling tips in the reviews. One suggested wearing it ‘casually with trainers or with a nice pair of heels’, adding: “I feel amazing when I wear this”.
Another recommended wearing it with a blazer for a workwear look, while another customer swapped the tie belt for her own tan leather version to switch up the styling.
One shopper wrote: “Lovely dress. Looks more expensive than it was. I read the advice and considered gett]ing the small as I’ve had to the last few dresses I’ve had from h and m.
“I didn’t size it down as I often have issues round the bust with this sort of dress. I made the right decision. I’m usually a 12 and the medium fit is lovely. If you’ve got a smaller chest you might be better sizing down. Lovely print. I’ve got the leopard print too. Love them both.”
Another said: “How many ways can I say I love this dress? Cut is very flattering and elastication at the back waist allows you to define your waist along with the tie belt.
“Fabric is soft and floaty . I am typically a size 12/14 and 5'8" and ordered a M which fits beautifully. I bought two very similar dresses last year and love them equally as much. Definitely worth it and such a good price for a lovely dress. Did I say how much I love it?”
A third said the £20 dress gets them ‘loads of compliments’, adding: “Usually a 12-14 medium was perfect! The elasticated bit at the back and ties gives it a lovely shape and not frumpy. Can be dressed up and down. Perfect fabric for the heatwave too! I'm 5'4 and the length was fab .. just above ankles. I wore it with wedges and flat sandals.”
However, the sizing has caused some issues for some customers, with some saying it’s ‘small around the bust’ or ‘way too big and too long’. One shopper, who was between 5’3” and 5’5” said they had to return theirs as it was too long. Another wrote: “Dual sizing comes up too big for small people.”
If you’re looking for something a little shorter, this zebra print shirt dress from Boohoo is a good alternative, but its sizing isn’t quite as wide, StokeonTrentLive reports.
