H&M's Market Street store has temporarily closed its doors ahead of a major refurbishment. The retailer has confirmed that the Manchester store will be closed for five months while it undergoes an 'amazing rebuild and transformation', enhancing the existing offer for Manchester shoppers.
The clothing and homeware brand has also said that customers will still be able to shop at H&M in Manchester while the rebuild is progressing. A brand-new, temporary store fit out will be created at the front of the store, and from June 29 until September 16, a carefully curated capsule collection of womenswear will be available so shoppers can snap up the latest styles over the summer months.
During the refurbishment, customers will also be able to use H&M's Click & Collect service, a dedicated online activation area and bespoke members offers and benefits. From September until the store's reopening in November, the shopping area will be once again revamped into a new customer offering which will be revealed closer to the time.

Klas Degeryd, Head of Expansion at H&M UK & IE commented: “We are delighted to be able to continue serving our Manchester customers as we undergo a really exciting rebuild.
"Market Street is a key area for high street shopping and we are pleased to not be completely shutting our doors and ensuring a seamless customer service as we transform our store. We will be reopening later this year with a new and improved store where customers can enjoy our curated fashion collections in a newly designed space which celebrates style and creativity.”
Last April, the clothing company, which is based out of Sweden, reopened its Trafford Centre store following a huge transformation encompassing a brand new homeware section and a extensive number of self-checkout tills. With Greater Manchester shoppers buying the most H&M homeware outside of London, the retail giant decided to introduce its own home section in its Trafford Centre store.
At the time, shoppers were able to purchase cushion cover for £3.99, ceramic plant pots for £8.99 and an array of fresh plants supplied by Manchester florist Frog Mcr from £8.99. One unique quirk of the store was the removal of windows all together and a design that H&M said was the 'first of its kind in the world'.
Speaking at the time, H&M UK & Ireland Expansion Manager Chris Clare said: "Manchester customers are very individual and they're fashion conscious. I also think Manchester has a spirit - it's a unique one you won't find anywhere else in the country, and that's why we love it here. It's a truly unique city."
H&M Market Street will be open to customers from 29 June September 16, when the store will close for a few days before reopening with a new, temporary concept ahead of the full reopening in November.
