H&M axe Justin Bieber merchandise after singer branded it 'trash'

H&M has removed their new collection which featured images of Justin Bieber 's face after the singer described it as "trash".

The 28-year-old took to his Instagram Story to denounce the merchandise, which he said was created without his "permission and approval".

The fashion company originally released a statement saying they had "followed proper approval procedures" but have since made the decision to axe the products.

"I didn't approve any of the merch collection that they put up at H&M… all without my permission and approval. SMH I wouldn't buy it if I were you," Justin had told fans.

He added: "The H&M merch they made of me is trash and I didn't approve it don't buy it."

The Baby hitmaker also left a comment on the @jbiebertraacker Instagram page under a post about the products.

"When everyone finds out I didn’t approve any of this merch smh," he said.

In a statement, H&M defended their collection: "As with all other licensed products and partnerships, H&M followed proper approval procedures."

However, they acknowledged the need to take down the items.

"But out of respect for the collaboration and Justin Bieber we have removed the garments from our stores and online," a spokesperson told the BBC.

The merchandise included products such as a sweater dress with a black and white photo of Justin, a canvas bag with a collage of snaps and a phone case with the lyric "I miss you more than life" printed on.

H&M previously sold merchandise promoting Justin's Purpose Tour in 2016 as well as his Stadium Tour in 2017. The latter was promoted by the singer at the time.

In 2020, H&M released a collection inspired by Justin's album Changes, which received no public complaints from the musician.

Justin has his own set of merch for sale on his official website, including hoodies, sweatpants and t-shirts featuring his image and lyrics from his latest album Justice.

He also has his own clothing line called Drew, in reference to his middle name, which was launched in 2019 with the help of Ryan Good.
