Gymshark to open permanent store on London's iconic Regent Street

Fitness apparel and accessories brand Gymshark has revealed plans to open its first physical store on London's prestigious Regent Street.

The retailer confirmed that it has taken on a three-storey building - boasting 18,000 sq ft of retail space - on the famous street which is home to some of the most well-known brands in the world.

In a YouTube video shared on the company's LinkedIN page, Gymshark co-founder Ben Francis said: "I have one of the most exciting announcements in Gymshark history - the first ever permanent Gymshark store.

"Regent Street is one of the most incredible streets in all of London and the most prestigious companies and brands in the world have their stores on this street.

"The brand team, the retail team and all of our partners have worked incredibly hard to make this a reality."

Ben Francis co-founded Gymshark in 2012 when he was just a teenager working from his parents' garage.

Today the Solihull-headquartered business, which sells sports clothing and accessories, is a global brand boasting more than 500 staff and offices in London, Mauritius, Hong Kong and North America as well as its Blythe Valley Park HQ.

The company is estimated to be worth more than £1 billion after securing investment from General Atlantic in August 2020.

Ben - who was named 2020 Entrepreneur of the Year by EY - added: "To have started this brand nine years ago, in my bedroom in the West Midlands, to now having a store here on Regent Street is mind-blowing.

"This store is going to reinvent the Gymshark business and I am so excited to watch it unfold."

It is understood that around 100 jobs will be created with the opening.
