Gyanesh Kumar assumes charge as CEC

New Delhi: Gyanesh Kumar took charge as the new Chief Election Commissioner on Wednesday morning.

Gyanesh Kumar Replaces Rajiv Kumar
Kumar, a 1998 Kerala Cadre officer of the Indian Administrative services, replaces Rajiv Kumar. He will be at the helm of the election body till 26 January 2029.

'First step for nation building is voting'
After taking charge as the Chief Election Commissioner, he said: "The first step for nation building is voting. Therefore every citizen who have completed the age of 18 should become an elector and should always vote. In accordance with the constitution of India, electoral laws, rules, and instructions issued therein, the ECI was, is, and will always be with the voters." (With Agency Inputs)
