Gwyneth Paltrow has admitted that her son Moses, 16, is not on board with her infamous “healthy” lifestyle.
The actress, 50, said Moses – who she shares with ex-husband, Coldplay star Chris Martin, along with daughter Apple, 18 – will “barely let me give him a vitamin”.
Paltrow, who founded wellness lifestyle site Goop, which has become infamous for its quirky and often bizarre health advice, said that while she tries to get him to go down the wellness path she doesn’t force him to.
She said it is about “knowing when to relent and give him his space”.
“I try not to force anything on them [Moses and Apple],” she explained.
“They were raised in an environment where wellness is important and they will adopt what they choose to, or not. They have free will.
“When they’re out of the house, I’m sure they go for the Oreos and the McNuggets. More power to them."
However, the Iron Man star did reveal that Apple, who she recently sent off to college, is becoming more interested in wellness as she gets older.
“Apple, she tends to be more wellness-curious now at 18 than she was when she was kind of like smack in the middle of her teens, so we’ll see...
“Moses will take walks with me, so that’s great, and he likes to skateboard too, so oftentimes, we’ll walk and he’ll skate next to me and that’s fun."
Though her children do not follow a strict Goop lifestyle, Paltrow shared that she and her film director husband Brad Falchuk, 51, are “aligned" when it comes to healthy living.
“We’re kind of partners in crime in the wellness thing together," she said.
“We walk, hydrate together and try to eat healthy food."
Goop previously shared Paltrow’s daily diet and health regime, which included kicking off the day with the Ayurvedic ritual of oil pulling.
It’s a process by which you swish coconut oil around your mouth, teeth and gums for 20 minutes on an empty stomach. The ancient practice is believed to improve oral hygiene as well as helping in the extraction of chemical and bacterial toxins.
She also drinks water with “Goop Glow” sachets – a blend of vitamin C, E and other skin-boosting supplements.
An example of her daily diet includes a green smoothie with “almond milk, coconut oil, vanilla mushroom protein powder and Moon Juice dust” for breakfast, a chopped salad for lunch and a dish such as seared scallops with asparagus and peas for dinner.
