Actress-turned Goop-founder Gwyneth Paltrow is downsizing her property portfolio. While she primarily resides in her 'forever home,' beautifully designed by Brigette Romanek, she has just added her Brentwood abode to the market for $29.99 million.
Described as a 'private oasis in lower Mandeville Canyon,' Paltrow purchased the house, originally built in the 1950s, with her ex-husband, Coldplay's Chris Martin, in 2012 for $9.95 million. Paltrow worked with designer Windsor Smith to create a sanctuary that seamlessly encapsulates the organic modern aesthetic – but arguably, no space taps into the look quite like her living room.
The organic modern movement is a surprisingly eclectic blend of minimalism, mid-century modern decor, and bohemian design styles layered with organic elements, forms, and colors to create a sophisticated space. Through her combination of rich textures and warm wooden hues, Paltrow effortlessly captures this look.
Alongside mastering the organic modern aesthetic, Paltrow ensured she accentuated the home's historical architectural assets – including high ceilings, beautiful moldings, and French doors that lead to the backyard. Followers of Paltrow will know that she's a culinary enthusiast (we're not shy to admit we've all spent a considerable amount of time admiring her 'Boyfriend Breakfasts'), so, fittingly her kitchen is one of the chicest we've ever seen.
Complete with double cooktops, double ranges, a wood-burning oven, and a center island, the monochromatic space is designed with cooking (and entertaining) in mind.
Beyond the kitchen and living areas, the 12,761 home comprises eight bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, all of which play with subtle neutrals and quiet luxury furnishings. Paltrow also added a game room, movie theater, an estate manager’s office, a wine cellar, and a guesthouse on the estate.
As mentioned, the reason for Paltrow’s move comes down to the completion of her custom Montecito home (an abode we've already spent months admiring on Instagram).
Additionally, listing agent Lea Porter of the Beverly Hills Estates shared that Paltrow is selling her long-time family home to 'downsize' now that her children are older (as per the Wall Street Journal). She listed the estate only one day after attending her son Moses’ high school graduation last week.
According to the listing, the sale offers a 'rare opportunity to own one of Brentwood's finest estates.' It also happens to be right next door to Kendrick Lamar's home, in case we need any more convincing.
