Gwyneth Paltrow fabulous at 50 - weirdest health hacks from vaginal steams to bee stings

Gwyneth Paltrow is turning 50 and has always been open about the weird and wonderful health secrets she uses.

The actress has introduced her fans to some bizarre concepts, but they seem to be paying off as she looks amazing.

After creating her lifestyle brand Goop back in 2008, the star regularly keeps her followers up to date with the latest health trend she's giving a go.

Gwyneth recently wrote a post on Goop about her milestone birthday and how she was feeling about it.

She said: "I actually feel great turning 50. I feel really lucky that I have my health (touch wood) and strength in my body. I feel like many of the decisions I made in my late 20s, my 30s, and my 40s are paying dividends now."

The mum-of-two said she is 'grateful for the foundation' she's built when it comes to her health over the years.

But what are the weirdest ways she's stayed healthy?

Bee venom therapy

Back in 2016, Gwyneth mentioned her new health concept of been venom therapy.

She claimed that being stung by bees meant that an old injury 'completely' vanished, some reported that the therapy did not work.

One women died in 2018 after undergoing the bee venom therapy for two years.

Vaginal steaming

2015 saw gynecologists disagree with Gwyneth's recommendation of vaginal steaming.

In a Goop article, the star claimed that vaginal steaming could offer any cleaning or hormone-balancing benefits to women.

However, Pittsburgh ob-gyn Draion Burch, MD, told LiveScience that there's no scientific evidence backing vaginal steaming as a cleaning procedure.

It can also come with a risk of second-degree burns.

Ashtanga yoga

Gwyneth first started becoming more interested in a healthier lifestyle when she took up ashtanga yoga when she was 25.

She said: "I was committed to it, went six days a week, and it transformed my body and my mind. I started to understand that routines are important for me.

However, Gwyneth now says that it's important for her to be 'forgiving' when it comes to her body.

She said: "It's important to have some grace around the aging of your body, to be forgiving. Okay, well, maybe my skin or my muscle won't bounce back here the way it used to, and that's okay. You have to recalibrate."

NASA stickers

The use of 'NASA stickers' was shut down pretty quickly in 2017 when Goop promoted the 'healing stickers'.

It was reported that the stickers were made from the same 'conductive carbon material' NASA uses to make spacesuits.

However, a Mark Shelhamer, former chief scientist at NASA's human research division, told Gizmodo : "Wow, what a load of BS this is."

NASA also does not use carbon to make its spacesuits.
