The Voice Australia has hit back after claims emerged about coach Guy Sebastian being a “total diva” on set. Spicy!!
He’s been a mentor on the show for six seasons straight, and while he seems to enjoy his role, a source from The Voice Australia has painted a very different picture. However, a spokesperson from Seven dismissed these rumours.
“The claims made by unnamed sources in the Daily Mail overnight in relation to Guy Sebastian and The Voice are complete rubbish,” the spokesperson said.
So, what were these wild claims?
Well, one insider told Daily Mail that Guy appeared to be more “demanding” this year.
“The rumours started while the show was being pre-recorded earlier this year — that Guy was a total diva on set and not easy to deal with.”
The source floated the idea Guy’s attitude could be to do with the sheer amount of years he has been involved with the singing show, noting that the singing competition generally has the “highest turnover of coaches” among the many (many) singing competitions.
“You can get irritable on those long days, and I assure you, the novelty does wear off,” they added.
“Guy has been on the show for six seasons and that is around the time most coaches walk away. The Madden brothers [Joel and Benji] walked away after five seasons. Boy George and Kelly Rowland only did four,” the source pointed out.
While Guy’s long stint on the show is impressive, Aussie pop princess Delta Goodrem was actually on the show for eight seasons.
The insider reckons the fact that Guy’s fellow coaches are all new has added to scheduling delays, claiming that he sometimes has a “short temper”.
“The days Channel Seven are filming are long and you have to give 150 per cent while the cameras are on. Guy had the shortest temper in comparison to LeAnn Rimes, Kate Miller-Heidke and Adam Lambert, and that was more obvious because it was all three of those coaches’ first time on a singing show like this,” the source alleged.
The Voice Australia insider also hinted that producers were clashing with the singer after he apparently took it upon himself to give his fellow coaches some tips. Which TBH, seeing as he’s the most experienced, seems perfectly normal??
“Guy was often giving the others tips on how to cut corners and what is worth putting your energy into and what isn’t. Some of the producers seemed to be a little miffed by that kind of negativity,” the source added.
Guy has built up a pretty loyal fanbase when it comes to The Voice Australia, and it seems like a sweet gig. There are rumours he gets paid a cool $1 million for his stint as a coach, so if there was any truth to the rumours, I wouldn’t blame him for milking the hell out of the show.
