Guy Pearce has told how he and old Neighbours co-star Jason Donovan are still great mates and call each other by their characters’ names.
The Hollywood star, who returns to Erinsborough for the Aussie soap’s finale later this month, added: “Jason and I see each other all the time.
“Whenever I’m in London I’ll see Jason most times and I’ll see Kylie as well if she’s around.”
Guy, 54, said his Mare of Easttown co-star Kate Winslet was looking forward to seeing his Neighbours swansong.
He added: “She was besotted with Mike back in the day.”
He credits the Aussie soap, which he joined straight from school aged 18, with setting up his career.
After three years in the soap from 1986, he was in films such as Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, Memento and LA Confidential, plus TV work.
Mike had to “trawl his memory bank” for how to play Mike again.
He added: “The producers had his old motorcycle gloves, they have been in the box since 1987, so that helped.”
In the finale, Mike is reunited with old flame Plain Jane Super Brain, played by Annie Jones.
Annie said she would “love” to move to the UK for a soap role.
Kylie, who is also returning for the final episode, has previously spoken proudly of the impact her two years in the soap had on her life.
Talking about going back to where it all began, she said: "It was lovely and emotional. Driving into Ramsay Street was quite something."
Asked about her reaction to being back on set, she added: "Firstly, where's all that time gone? Secondly, everything looks exactly the same.
"Thirdly, Scott, Charlene, Jane, Harold - it all just came flooding back."
Kylie of course played Charlene Robinson with Jason Donovan playing her on-screen love interest, Scott.
The airing of the popular pair's wedding has been engrained into TV history with two million Aussies and almost 20 million viewers in Britain watching the iconic moment.
Jason recently discussed the final on The One Show and said it will definitely be "emotional".
"I'm not going to give too much away about the episode," Donovan told hosts Alex Jones and Rylan Clark.
"But I can tell you it's going to happen, in what capacity, you are going to have to switch over to Channel 5 and watch."
The presenters continued to press Donovan for more details, but Jason refused to spill.
"There is a bit of denim involved, that's for sure!" he added. "It's a throwback to 1988."
The last ever Neighbours airs on July 29 on Channel 5.
