A motor enthusiast from Midlothian is fuming after he discovered his classic car was covered in tar from pothole repairs.
Jamie Ferrol, 30, from Gorebridge, had his 1989 model Range Rover restored last year but hasn't had that much time to enjoy his new motor after roadworks in the area left it splattered and stained in tar
Speaking to Edinburgh Live, he explained how Midlothian Council was repairing two potholes on the street outside his home. He wasn't informed the work would be happening and wasn't told to move his car.

He said: "Rather than asking me to move my car, they just went ahead and fixed them and absolutely covered by car in hot tar. And that stuff won't come off.
"I tried to scrape it off, I managed to get a bit off the window so I could see out of it. But I took it to a few garages and they're telling me it's basically a write-off. It needs completely resprayed and the windows need to be replaced. It could cost about £6,000 to fix.
"I had it restored as well. I only had it back for a month and had paid lots of money to get it done up after I picked it up from Inverness. Before being damaged it was valued at around £13k.
"I was loving it, it was like a new car again. When I went out that morning and saw it in that state, it was devastating."
Jamie added: "I'm absolutely gutted. I can't use it, it's just sitting in my drive. I've scraped a bit off the window to see if I can drive it, but I can't see that well out of it so it's a danger too."
The car enthusiast said he had been trying to get in touch with Midlothian Council but said he was 'passed around' through different departments.
"They just don't care, they haven't done anything. It's annoying, I'm angry and quite upset about it."
A spokesperson for Midlothian Council said: "We are aware of this issue. The claimant was issued with claims forms for the damage and this will now be progressed through the insurance process."
