Gutted man split with childhood girlfriend months before family's £61million lotto win

A man has been left 'gutted' after he broke up with his girlfriend just before her family won a whopping £61million on the EuroMillions lottery.

Daniel White's friends ridiculed him after discovering his former partner's family had shared out the lottery winnings among themselves. Daniel broke up with his childhood sweetheart Courtney Davies just months before their big win.

The 27-year-old rugby player told the Daily Star that his relationship with Courtney was "a school and teenage romance which just tailed off." He added: "We had different interests and different friends."

Daniel accepted the changing ways of the relationship and didn't put up much of a fight to revive it or rekindle the love he had with Courtney. However, he may have done if he knew that in just a few months, her family would be multi-millionaires.

Having purchased a lucky dip ticket from her local garage back in 2016, Courtney's sister Stephanie came up trumps and gave her own partner a large share of the winnings in the shape of £12million.

Daniel was Stephanie's next door neighbour at the time, reports The Sun. He previously said: "All my mates are savaging me - the first I knew of their win was my phone going nuts.

"The boys were all sending me links and jokey Snapchats asking if I was gutted. One said 'how much have you cried since you found out mate?' I just put my head in my hands. I'm happy for them - but obviously I feel like it could have been me."
