Gustavo Scarpa makes vow over lack of Nottingham Forest game time after Steve Cooper decision

Nottingham Forest midfielder Gustavo Scarpa has spoken about his lack of game time recently after being left out of the Reds squad against Everton last weekend.

The 29-year-old joined Steve Cooper's' side from Palmeiras during the January transfer window and was immediately thrown into the first team. Scarpa made his debut in Forest's 1-0 win over Southampton before playing against Leicester City and Bournemouth.

The Brazilian was left on the bench for the 1-0 win over Leeds in February before a 56th-minute appearance against Fulham six days later. Since then he’s found himself on the bench against Manchester City and West Ham before being left out of the squad against the Toffees on Sunday.

But the midfielder is not concerned about a lack of recent game time saying that it's 'normal'. Speaking to Brazil's UOL, as quoted by Sport Witness, he said: “I was surprised because everything happened so fast, starting to play, having opportunities. Now I’m having a little less, but I think it’s normal, everyone goes through it, I’ve been through it myself a few times in Brazil.

“The choice to come here was very much the fulfilment of a dream. And I’m a person who, you can tell even by my hobbies I have, I insist until I succeed. I don’t want to just get here, stay six months, say ‘I’ve had my experience and I’m going back to Brazil’, because that would be very comfortable. But what I seek nowadays is not comfort, in fact it never was.

“The idea is to conquer my space, in a very effective way. Playing excellent football, having a good run, scoring goals, giving assists. Their affection, their admiration, will be a consequence of my football shown on the field. It’s a matter of time, but it depends a lot on my dedication.”
