Gustavo Scarpa makes 'surreal' Nottingham Forest claim amid transfer

Gustavo Scarpa has revealed his "biggest dream" was always to play in England amid reports he has signed a pre-contract agreement with Nottingham Forest.

The Palmeiras midfielder is set to join Forest in December once the Brazilian season comes to an end. The 28 year-old joined the club in 2018 and has racked up a total of 195 appearances, while scoring 33 goals and assisting 45 times.

His presence and experience in midfield has seen him make a name for himself with international recognition from Brazil coming too. His existing contract at Allianz Parque runs out at the end of the year and therefore the Reds won't be paying a transfer fee for his switch to the City Ground.

Speaking about what is set to be a new challenge for him at the turn of the year, Scarpa revealed he didn't think the day to play abroad would ever come. "Anyone who knows me knows the dream of playing in Europe, my biggest dream has always been [to play in] England," he told Palmeiras Online.

"I admit that I started to think that would be improbable, but when the opportunity came at 28 years of age, it was surreal. It's my last opportunity. It's difficult to let go of something so big that we have built with this club [Palmeiras]."
