Guru Nanak Dev Hospital of the Government Medical College has failed to provide basic amenities to the patients.
Waste material from the hospital can be seen lying in the open, raising health concerns for visitors and patients.
Air coolers fitted near the hospital entrance are not in a working condition, despite the mercury on the rise. Patients are forced to wait for their turn in this heat.
Also there are inadequate number of wheelchairs and staff to help patients on stretchers.
Priya Verma, who was visiting the hospital to see an admitted kin on Monday, said: “How can there be so much garbage dumped in the open such a place?”
Nirmal Singh, who was accompanying an ill relative, said, “We have been waiting for someone to attend to the patient lying on the stretcher, but no one has arrived.”
Even elevators in the building are not functional, making things difficult for patients.
Sahib Singh, a patient, said: “Why are the elevators not working? The authorities must rectify the problem for convenience of patients.”
As if these issues were not enough, windowpanes of the hospital are broken, crying for the authorities’ attention.
