Fortunately, off-duty officers who were working extra employment at the church, including a T.A.B.C. agent with four years of service and an HPD officer with two years of service, bravely engaged the shooter, fatally striking her. Tragically, a five-year-old child was also hit during the incident and is currently in critical condition at a local hospital. Additionally, a 57-year-old man unrelated to the incident sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and is also receiving medical treatment.
Following the shooting, the woman allegedly made a bomb threat, prompting a thorough search of her vehicle and the backpack she carried. However, no explosives were found. It was also reported that the woman had been spraying some type of substance on the ground, which is currently being investigated by the Houston Fire Department.
