Gunman who ambushed Delta taxi driver wanted by police

A man who was previously jailed for threatening a taxi driver with a gun is wanted by police again.

Shaun William Connolly went to prison in 2011, when he was 19, after luring a Delta taxi driver to Speke Nursing Home, on Eastern Avenue. He then pointed a starting pistol at the driver and said “I’m going to blow your head off.”

Connolly was with another unidentified person at the time, who attacked the driver's side door, hammering on it with another gun. The driver was able to sound his emergency alarm and drive off.

Connolly was caught because he hired the taxi using his mum’s mobile. He pleaded guilty to possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and was jailed for 20 months.

The 30-year-old, from Speke, was released from prison on licence after serving part of his sentence but is now wanted for breaching his licence conditions. He is described as around 5ft, 8in tall, of slim build, with light brown hair and blue eyes. He speaks with a Liverpool accent.

A spokesperson for Merseyside police said: "If you see Connolly or have any information on his whereabouts please contact us via our social media desk on Twitter @MerpolCC or Facebook ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ with reference 22000231013.

"You can also contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via their online form at: https://crimestoppers-uk.org/give-information/give-information."
