Gunman mugs woman before asking her out for a date saying she's 'too pretty to rob'

An armed robber allegedly demanded his victim befriend him on Facebook because she was pretty - just moments after mugging her at her own home.

Describing her ordeal, Amber Beraun said she had returned to her house in Indianapolis after work at around 4pm on May 8, where she was approached by a man as she went to her mailbox.

There, the man, since identified as Damien Boyce, pulled out a gun and told her to take him inside - something she refused.

Recalling the incident to WRTV, she said: "He took [the gun] out of his pocket to show me what was going on — [he said] let me into your house. I did not do that."

Instead, Beraun said she gave him cash from her car - around $100.

It is alleged Boyce - still pointing the gun at her - then asked if she had a boyfriend, before telling her to connect with him on social media where he later asked her on a date.

"I thought if maybe I added him on Facebook, he would leave, and he did,' Beraun explained.

Things soon took an even more bizarre twist, however, as Boyce began sending her messages, according to Indianapolis police.

One read: "Look you know I'mma pay you back. It's a f***** up way to meet someone, but d*** you wass to pretty to rob."

Deciding to respond, Beraun said: "I believe you man. I can tell you're sweet, times just got rough. I know that."

That only encouraged Boyce further, who continued to make contact, before suggesting she "come chill" with him.

Beraun continued: "He really tried to rob me of my own things, but he took away my sense of safety from my own home.

"It makes me a little on edge knowing that people walk up and down the street, looking for places to commit crimes. It makes it a little different when you hear noises at night."

Cops say Boyce, who is being held on a $7,500 bond and has been charged with the gunpoint robbery of Beraun, was previously arrested and charged in a separate robbery incident on June 12.

It is alleged he shot two people and struck a third in the head with a brick following an argument. It is alleged he then barricaded himself inside a building before he surrendered to authorities on the arrival of a SWAT team.

He was subsequently charged with burglary, unlawful possession of a weapon, criminal recklessness and battery over the incident.
