A gunman was killed Saturday morning after opening fire at UPMC Memorial hospital in York County, Pennsylvania officials confirmed.

Law enforcement responded to a 911 call reporting an "active threat" at around 10:45 a.m., according to Ted Czech, public information officer for York County's Office of Emergency Management.

"The threat has now been neutralized and an investigation is underway," Czech stated.

Hospital spokesperson Susan Manko confirmed with Fox News that no patients were injured during the incident. "The gunman has been apprehended, and the hospital is now secure," Manko said, expressing gratitude for law enforcement's swift response.

Authorities have not yet released details about the suspect or a possible motive.
