Gun-detecting police dogs have been enlisted to aid in the search for the weapon involved in the shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. According to a senior law enforcement official, the dogs were dispatched to Fort Tryon Park in upper Manhattan. This location is in close proximity to a bus terminal near the George Washington Bridge, where the suspect was last spotted around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4.
The search efforts have extended to subway stations near the George Washington Bridge, but as of now, the weapon remains unrecovered. Firearms expert David Katz, a former DEA firearms instructor and current CEO of Global Security Inc., suggested that the suspect may have been in possession of a rare pistol.

Katz speculated that the weapon in question could be a bolt action pistol, described as a 'modernized version of a World War II pistol.' The unique nature of this firearm adds a layer of complexity to the investigation, as authorities work diligently to locate the missing weapon.
