VADODARA/ANAND: Cyber crime police in Anand arrested two persons who were allegedly selling mephedrone (MD) drugs to college students and accepting payments in digital mode, cops said.
The police have also seized 13 small pouches of the contraband containing 8.9 gram MD drugs worth Rs 89,000 from the accused who fall from Petlad town of Anand district. Cops have also confiscated three mobile phones, cash and a moped from them. The total seizure amounts to Rs 1.5 lakh, cops said.
“Our primary investigation has revealed that the accused used to accept payments in digital mode through online payment gateways or through e-wallets from youngsters before selling them MD drugs,” said police inspector L D Gamara.
While Sajid alias Arabdi Pathan, who resides opposite Pathanwada masjid in Petlad town and Maahiruddin alias Dabbi Sheikh, a resident of Malav Bhagol Saiyedwada area of Petlad have been arrested, cops are also searching for another accused Saajukhan Pathan alias Ismail Ghanchi, a resident of Ahmedabad’s Juhapura area.
The police have also rounded-up one Akramali Saiyed, a resident of Petlad’s Bhatiwada area in connection to the drug sales.
“We have been able to crack this case based on human resources and technical surveillance. We will investigate further to know the source of the drugs and the buyers,” said Gamara, adding that the accused have been booked under relevant sections of NDPS Act.
