Guinness-maker Diageo is set to build a brand new €200 million brewery in Kildare which will create over 1000 jobs during construction.
If planning permission is secured, Diageo will start production at the Newbridge site in 2024, employing around 1,000 construction workers. The brewery will take two years to construct.
The purpose-built, carbon-neutral facility will brew a range of ales and lagers, including Hop House 13, Rockshore, and Smithwick’s. This plan will help free up space at St James’s Gate, making it easier to produce more stout.

Once completed, the facility could be supporting 50 direct new jobs also.
Speakign to RTE, Colin O'Brien, Category Head - Global Beer Supply, Diageo said: "Our plans for a new, state-of-the-art brewery in Kildare, and the developments at St James's Gate, will enable growth in overall beer exports from Ireland.
"We are fully committed to embedding sustainability across our business from grain to glass and this announcement represents the next step in our integrated approach towards achieving one of Diageo’s Society 2030: Spirit of Progress commitments by becoming carbon neutral in our direct operations."
Tanaiste and Minister for Enterprise Trade and Employment Leo Varadkar believes that the investment is great news for the future development of Ireland's thriving food and drink industry as well as the economy.
