Guid Nychburris was an outstanding day for the town of Dumfries on Saturday.
Thousands of people descended on the town centre and on the outskirts along the parade routes for the biggest celebration in the town’s calendar.
The principals arrived at the Midsteeple on Saturday morning with cornet Robert Wyllie and his lass Ellie McKean leading the parade.
St Joseph’s College pupil Ava Nosratzadeh was crowned as the Queen of the South with her attendants Niamh Stainthorpe and Eva Hope by her side along with key bearers Sophia Earle and Jessica McLean and singer Louise Jones.
Guid Nychburris Festival Association chairman John Caskie said: “The whole week went very well and Saturday was the same it was a really good day.
“It was a bit cooler on Saturday than through the rest of the week which was good for everyone involved.
“There were no casualties with any of the participants and everything went according to plan.
“The chases at Park Farm were cancelled and Kingholm Gallop and they’d have still been cancelled despite it being cooler on the day because of the ground being so hard after the dry weather.
