But from the long queues outside drive-thrus, it's clear that a lot of us have missed a simple burger and fries.

Each country has its own specialities and twists on the standard fare we expect to see.

A favourite in Germany, the McToast Chocolate consists of loose wheat pancakes with creamy milk chocolate packed inside.
2. India
The McCurry Pan is a bread bowl filled with chicken curry, offered to McDonald’s customers in India. They also serve McAloo Tikki and Chicken Maharaja.
3. Italy
It’s not so surprising that it is McDonald’s in Italy that are offering up spinach and parmesan nuggets to their customers.
4. Canada
In 2019, Canadians finally got their McLobster, a seasonal sandwich containing celery, mayonnaise sauce, lettuce and you guessed it... lobster.
5. Russia
In Russia, McDonald’s serve up fried shrimp for its customers along with a side of dipping sauce – a perfect quick bite.
6. Malaysia
Described as the ultimate taste meal in Malaysia, the box features cucumber slices, crispy anchovies, fried egg, spicy sambal and spicy ayam goreng.
7. Netherlands
The McKroket is essentially a kroket sandwich in a typical McDonald’s style bun, garnished with a special mustard sauce. It is a favourite of Dutch McDonald’s patrons.

Consisting of fried chicken, ham, a beef patty and bacon, this offering in Poland is a meat lover’s dream.
9. UK
A popular breakfast item in the UK, the bacon roll is exactly how you’d imagine it, bacon in a bread roll.
10. New Zealand
Georgie Pie was a local brand famous for its pies before it closed in 1998. McDonald's revived the tradition by offering Georgie Pie steak mince ‘n’ cheese in its New Zealand outlets.

In 2012, McDonald’s spent 18 months developing an Asian dish to sell in Austria, and they come up with McNoodles. The ingredients include of veggies, chicken and salad.

The Pancake Helado is made up of pancakes stuffed with dulce de leche chocolate sauce and topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

A firm favourite in the Philippines, the dish is available on its own or with rice and consists of meat in spaghetti along with a fried chicken wing.

Named after its oddly coloured buns, the dish features a black bun coloured with squid ink, while the white bun is covered with black sesame seeds.
15. Japan
The Melon Float is a melon soda and ice cream combo sold exclusively in Japan.
Famous for its green colouring, it can contain up to 48 grams of sugar.

Consisting of 100% beef and salmon patties, the burger are one of the go-to items on the McDonald’s menu in South Korea. The burger is garnished with lettuce, onion and tartar sauce.

The Bubblegum Squash McFlurry is every marshmallow addict’s dream. The bubblegum syrup swirls engulf the marshmallows to create a unique McFlurry for Australia.

The Red Bean Matcha Layer Cake is a mille crepe cake with many layers of thin matcha pancakes, matcha cream, and red bean.

Featuring crispy chicken, beef and pork, the dish is favourite in Thailand.

20. Turkey
The McTurco is a dish made to suit the Turkish palate. Two warm kofteburgers is wrapped in pita, with the addition of pepper sauce, onions, lettuce and tomato slices.
