Everyone's buzzing about artificial intelligence (AI). From whether it's really Taylor Swift singing those leaked tracks from The Tortured Poets Department to yet-to-be-created beauty pageant contestants, AI is definitely dominating the conversation. The advancements in technology can be perceived as an asset or a threat to humanity. Fashion house Etro has already tapped its potential by creating an AI-generated Spring 2024 advertising campaign. Now comes word that the Gucci Cruise 2025 show will also embrace the trend.
It was just announced that Gucci plans on presenting its latest cruise wear at the Tate Modern in London on Monday, May 13. Creative Director Sabato De Sarno reportedly visited the English capital several times to gather inspiration for his first cruise collection. The Italian fashion brand's show will simultaneously support the gallery's "Electric Dreams" exhibition. Which may make for an interesting tie-in.
"Electric Dreams" is a groundbreaking showcase of how artists from different eras used machines to create their masterpieces. These are the early pioneers who relied on digital technology and home computing systems to manufacture art. It allows visitors "a rare chance to experience incredible works of vintage tech art in action." Which has us wondering if Gucci will literally pay homage with its cruise clothing. The fashion house is also doing its part to inspire future generations of art with a three-year partnership promising to promote the museum's work with young creatives.
Gucci has a long history of traveling for its cruise shows. Last year was held in Seoul and Gucci has also jetted off to the Castel del Monte in Italy and even San Francisco. Other brands are also on the move. Louis Vuitton has already punched its ticket to Barcelona, while Christian Dior is heading to Scotland after a super successful Pre-Fall 2024 runway show at the Brooklyn Museum.
It's certainly shaping up to be an interesting and perhaps innovative resort season.
