Guatemala has recently announced a significant increase in deportation flights transporting Guatemalans and individuals of other nationalities from the United States. President Bernardo Arévalo revealed this plan during a press conference held in conjunction with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The country has committed to a 40% rise in these deportation flights, indicating a firm stance on immigration policies.

In addition to the deportation flights, Guatemala has agreed to establish a specialized task force dedicated to border control and protection along its eastern borders. This task force will consist of members from the National Police and Army, who will collaborate to combat various forms of transnational crime. President Arévalo emphasized the importance of addressing these criminal activities to enhance security and stability within the region.
