Six groups across Cambuslang and Rutherglen have benefited from council grants.
Two play scheme grants and four community grants were awarded by the Cambuslang and Rutherglen Area Committee this week.
The council’s community grants scheme allows funding for play schemes which operate over the summer, October and Easter periods; two groups benefited from funding.
The Bratpack Play scheme in Rutherglen was awarded £600 along with Fernhill Kids Play scheme.
Four community groups received grants from the committee too; the council offers community grants to support groups and voluntary organisations.
The key aims of the scheme is to fund activities and projects which bring community benefit and to involve people in the community by bringing them together to enjoy educational, recreational, leisure and other community activities.
Young at Heart Senior Club in Cambuslang was awarded £520 for administration, outing and entrance fees, while Kirkhill Bowling Club in Cambuslang received £300 for materials and equipment.
Overton Tenants and Residents’ Association in Cambuslang received £680 for an outing, equipment, materials, administration and publicity costs and Cambuslang Parish Church Pastoral Care Team got £200 for an outing.
The total allocation for community grants for Cambuslang and Rutherglen for the year 2022 to 2023 was £25,750. There is now £18,850 left for the year once the community grants and play scheme grants are deducted, a grant of £4000 was also awarded to Cambuslang SummerFest.
