A still from "Ground Zero"

Srinagar: Bollywood action thriller “Ground Zero” is the first film in 38 years to have a red carpet premiere in Srinagar.

The exclusive premiere of the movie is slated for April 18 and marks a landmark moment for the Valley, which last hosted a major film premiere  nearly four decades ago.

With "Ground Zero's" premiere in Srinagar, the makers wanted to show the film first to the Jawans and Army officers standing on line of defence and on ground to protect citizens from the enemy.

With each passing day, the excitement around the Bollywood thriller “Ground Zero” is rising to a fever pitch.

“After unveiling a gripping trailer that was widely well-received, the makers have been steadily adding to the intrigue with striking new posters. Amidst this buzz, the film is all set to make history by becoming the first film in 38 years to have a red carpet premiere in Srinagar, Kashmir on 18th April,” a Bollywood PR agency said.

Remarkably, no other film has had its premiere in Srinagar in the last 38 years, and “Ground Zero” will be the first to take this pioneering step after such a long time. This move perfectly aligns with the film’s theme of patriotism.

Ground Zero has been receiving a lot of love from the audience, and the excitement around its release is palpable. Endorsed by the BSF, the film’s trailer was also well-received and further fueled the audience’s anticipation.

Starring Emraan Hashmi as BSF Commandant Narendra Nath Dhar Dubey, Ground Zero recounts the real-life mission that led to the elimination of Ghazi Baba, the alleged mastermind behind the 2001 Indian Parliament attack. Touted as one of BSF’s most successful operations in 50 years, the story sheds light on a powerful yet lesser-known chapter of Indian history.

Produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under Excel Entertainment and directed by Tejas Deoskar, the film is co-produced by Kassim Jagmagia, Vishal Ramchandani, Sundeep C Sidhwani, Arhan Bagati, Talisman Films, Abhishek Kumar, and Nishikant Roy.

The film is all set to hit cinemas on April 25.
