Gritters are out in Bristol and Somerset as icy conditions grip roads

With another cold night and the chance of snow, the gritters are out in Somerset. North Somerset Council's Travel and Roads service - the official account for roads, transport, sustainable travel and parking in North Somerset - tweeted: "Another Cold night with a chance of some snow.

"Portispread and the gang will be out from 2pm this afternoon, as well as early tomorrow morning. Please take care if out on the network today and overnight."

Gritters have been out in parts of Somerset, particularly on higher ground. A spokesperson for Travel Somerset said: “Snow has fallen over western areas this morning.

"Our gritting fleet has been deploying a full dosage of salt. Snow ploughs currently clearing higher Roads on Exmoor.”
