Grieving sister of teen stabbed to death in Dublin marks second anniversary with emotional tribute

The grieving sister of Josh Dunne has said “Life is very unfair and It shouldn’t have been this way,” as his family marked the second anniversary of his killing.

Josh, from Dublin’s Ballymun, was stabbed to death at East Wall Road in Dublin’s north inner city on January 26, 2021.

Brazilian food delivery cyclist George Gonzaga Bento admitted to stabbing the 16-year-old.

But he walked free from court last summer after a jury accepted it was a case of self-defence.

Now Josh’s heartbroken sister Jade has paid tribute to talented footballer Josh, marking the second anniversary of his death.

In an emotional post online underneath a photo of a smiling Josh in his North Dublin Schoolboy League football jersey, Jade wrote she was dreading his second anniversary for the past month.

She wrote that “life is very unfair,” and that Josh deserved so much more than what this life gave him.

“To think that it’s been two years since we last saw your smile and heard your bubbly laugh. Life is so unfair and you deserved so much more than what this life gave you,” Jade wrote.

She added: “You should be starting your football career at 18. It shouldn’t have been this way. I’ll love and miss you forever little brother. You’re never off my mind.”

Earlier this month, Josh’s mum Diane said she and her family were left devastated by abuse on social media aimed at her son.
