Grieving family told 'remember Connor for the person you know and love'

A young man who died suddenly at Arrowe Park Hospital had taken a lethal amount of cocaine, a court heard.

Connor Allan Jones, 20, from Birkenhead, died on January 28. A post-mortem found the cause of death was cocaine toxicity.

At his inquest at the Gerard Majella Courthouse yesterday, coroner Andre Rebello said: "Cocaine is a carduitoxic drug, and no matter how often someone takes it, or whether they take it for the first time, it can cause spasms of the arteries and stop the heart, and that's why it's forbidden. People often take it as a recreational drug, but it's exceptionally dangerous."

He concluded that Mr Jones had died a drug-related death.

Addressing Mr Jones' family, he said: "This inquest deals with a very small portion of your loving relationship with Connor. So in all this please remember Connor for the person you continue to know and love, and not for anything that goes on his death certificate. I fully understand your world has turned upside down, because children should attend the funerals of their parents, and this is a very different case, and even though January 28 was a short while ago, it's still all very raw."
